2 Brigade Nigerian Army gets 44th Commander

Brig.-Gen. Alexander Tawasimi has assumed duty as the 44th Commander of 2 Brigade Nigeria Army, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
Tawasimi took over from Brig.-Gen. Jafaar Ibrahim, who had been redeployed to the Nigerian Army Resource Center, Abuja
Lt Adebowale Adejimi, Acting Assistant Director, Army Public Relations, 2 Brigade, disclosed this in a statement made available to the Newsnowng correspondent in Uyo on Thursday.
According to the statement, the transition occurred as part of the Nigerian Army’s strategic routine redeployment.
The statement reads, “Prior to his appointment as Commander 2 Brigade, Brig Gen Tawasimi served as the Commander 8 Division Garrison in Sokoto.
“As part of the proceedings for the handing and taking over ceremony, the outgoing Commander, Brig Gen Jafaar Ibrahim, commissioned several significant projects, including the Unknown Soldier Statue, the Brigade’s Mascot Statue, and the Mascot House.
“Following the commissioning, he officially transferred command by presenting signed documents and the command flag to Brig Gen Tawasimi.
“During his farewell address delivered at the Brigade’s Conference Room, Brig Gen Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for the support received throughout his tenure and urged all personnel to extend the same support to his successor.
“In recognition of Brig Gen Ibrahim’s service, officers, soldiers, and well-wishers presented him with various souvenirs during the ceremony.
“The event culminated at the quarter guard, where the flag of the outgoing Commander was lowered, and the new flag of the incoming Commander was hoisted, signifying the complete transfer of command and control of the 2 Brigade to Brig Gen Alexander Tawasimi,” the statement added.
