22 Cadet Anniversary, CP Adepoju Urge Officers To Be proactive

The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, has advised Police Officers not to envy their mates and colleagues doing much more than them. CP Adepoju gave the advice on Saturday, Ist February 2025, during the 20th-anniversary celebration of Cadet ASP Course 22 at Officers Mess, Old GRA, Port Harcourt.
“Everybody in this job runs his race. All of you will not end the job at the same time. Some will be rich in the beginning, some will be in the middle, some will be at the end, and some will be neutral throughout and enjoy their life, which is how life is.
“When I see people celebrating together, I am so happy. I pray it continues like that. When it comes to your turn, no matter how it is, if you have a pure heart and believe in your God, good things will come your way.
“God has plans for different people at different times. I don’t envy you doing well because our grace is different.
“If you believe your own time will come,when you are serving somebody,serve him well. Dont be annoyed wherever you find yourself. Continue to put in your best.You will still get a better place. But if you decide in your mind that you want to make enemy,you have already cut your movement.
“The job will make you have one issue or the other against yourselves, but when you know where you are moving to, you will not be annoyed with anybody. Pray and take whatever comes to you as God’s will for you, “CP Adepoju said.
Earlier, Israel Ukpong, a Cadet ASP course 22 member and an Assistant Commissioner of Police, ACP, who spoke on behalf of others, stated that the journey began with a total number of 609 cadet officers. Still, as fate would have it, the number has reduced to about 510.
“The journey has been characterised by high and low moments. They were joyous times and moments of fear, pain, and anguish. At the end of it all, we triumphantly passed out after 18 months of rigorous regimental training.
“Today, we boldly say that the stress and pain are worth it. Sadly, on this same journey, some have unfortunately lost their lives, and some have been hospitalised due to health challenges,” he said.
The high point of the event was the cutting of the birthday cake. ACP Ukpong, on behalf of members of Cadet ASP Course 22 serving in Rivers Police Command,, thanked God for being alive to fulfil their dreams. Deputy Commissioner of Police Administration Samuel Erale, Deputy Commissioner of Police, Operations, Al-Hassan-Kawu, Assistant Commissioners of Police, Cadet ASP course 22 members, and well-wishers were all in attendance.
