The Nigerian government has finalized arrangements for the emergency evacuation of its stranded citizens in Israel and Iran following the escalation of hostilities and continued bombings between the two nations.
This was disclosed on Wednesday in a statement signed by the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa.
According to the statement, “The Ministry of Foreign Affairs wishes to inform that following the escalation of the crisis between the State of Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Federal Government is finalizing arrangements for the emergency evacuation of stranded Nigerians in both countries.”
It urged affected Nigerian citizens to adhere to necessary security protocols and to immediately contact the nearest Nigerian Embassy or Mission for registration and further instructions.
The Ministry also commended the Nigerian Missions in Tel Aviv and Tehran for their dedication and commitment in reaching out to the Nigerian community during this critical period.
The statement further assured the public of the Federal Government’s commitment to the safety and welfare of all Nigerians, both at home and abroad, noting that it is working closely with international partners and local authorities to ensure a timely and secure evacuation process.
It added that the Nigerian government continues to call for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urges all parties involved to embrace dialogue, respect international humanitarian law, and prioritize the protection of civilians.
Nigeria reaffirmed its steadfast support for the peaceful resolution of conflicts and its longstanding commitment to regional and global peace and stability.
The government said it would continue to provide updates through official channels as the evacuation efforts progress.
