The Commissioner of Police in Rivers State has assured that justice will be served following the violent attack on the Sole Administrator of Ahoada East Local Government Area, Hon. Goodluck Iheanachor, who was assaulted in his office last Friday by hoodlums who forced him to resign.
In a press statement released on Sunday, June 22, 2025, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, stated that the Command is aware of and deeply disturbed by the heinous incident.
According to the statement, “On June 20, 2025, at about 13:40hrs, a group of about thirty hoodlums, led by Mr. Hector Ekakita, the Chief Security Officer (CSO), and the Chief of Staff (COS) to the Sole Administrator, stormed the Council Secretariat and launched a violent attack on him.”
During the assault, the attackers physically assaulted the Administrator, stole his mobile phones, and forced him to sign a resignation letter under duress. They also carted away vital documents, including official and personal materials from his office. The victim is currently receiving medical attention for the injuries sustained and is in stable condition.
The statement condemned the attack in strong terms, noting that the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga A. Adepoju, after visiting the scene with heads of other sister security agencies, directed the CSO, COS, and all those involved in the incident to report to the State Police Headquarters at Moscow Road, Port Harcourt, for questioning.
The CP warned that failure to comply with the police invitation will attract severe consequences, emphasizing the Command’s commitment to pursuing justice without compromise.
He reiterated the Police Command’s dedication to maintaining public peace and safety, and urged residents of Rivers State to remain calm, law-abiding, and cooperative with law enforcement in the ongoing efforts to uphold peace and order in the state.
