World Human Rights Day: CSO Campaigns Against Rising Injustice in Nigeria

The Edo Civil Society Organizations (EDOSCO) have called for addressing the inhumanity and infringements on the exercise of human rights in the country.
The group called for addressing issues related to human rights to commemorate World Human Rights Day, which is usually observed on December 10.
The theme for 2024: “Our rights, our future, Right now,” reiterated the need to respect the dignity of every person irrespective of social status, tribe, race, religion, etc.
Speaking, the Coordinator-General, EDOSCO, Leftist Omobude Agho, lamented the level of human rights violations at correctional centers across the country and pleaded that the judicial system should be reviewed to implement justice and free those found innocent without making them suffer unnecessarily.
The coordinator-general also addressed the issue of hardship in Nigeria and the mismanagement of the country’s resources by leaders and stakeholders.
He further decried the terrible situation and the leaders’ lack of empathy for the common good of Nigerians.
In addition, Mr Cadmus Atake-Enade, a keen environmental activist, deliberated on the country’s saddening rates of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) and the need to reduce their consumption.
He further mentioned that not only do GMOs have health implications, such as allergies, skin reactions, and cancers, but they also affect the country’s socio-economic area and weaken the agricultural sector.
He urged that deliberate actions should be taken towards guaranteeing safer and more natural food within the country.
