Tinubu Determined to Fix Nigeria’s Economy – Akpabio Reassures

Senate President Chief Godswill Akpabio has emphasized that Nigeria’s economy was already struggling before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu took office in 2023.
On Tuesday, Akpabio, who represents Akwa Ibom North West Senatorial district, made this statement during his Constituency Briefing and Empowerment in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State.
Akpabio praised President Tinubu’s determination to revamp the economy, citing his achievements in Lagos.
“President Tinubu met a bad economic situation but is determined to change it. We believe he’ll move the country forward, just like he did in Lagos.”
Akpabio also highlighted President Tinubu’s efforts to develop regions and empower people through continuous constituency projects and regional commissions.
Specifically, he noted the president’s support for the South East, allocating key ministries like the Ministry of Works and signing the South East Development Commission into law.
“The president has shown the South East love; he has signed the South East Development Commission into an act of parliament; in addition, key ministries have been allocated, not based on votes but on the NEEDS basis.
“The South East has a lot of ecological problems, the South East has very poor roads, just like the South, and Mr president decided to give us the Ministry of Works in addition to other key Ministries, even the petroleum and gas ministry.
“Akwa Ibom is sitting on gas from Utapete down to Ibeno. Above all, the president, allowed our State to produce the No 3 Citizen, the Senate President, the last time we had such opportunity was in 1979. President Tinubu deserves all our support.”
In addition, Akpabio distributed various items, including bags of rice, fleets of cars, generating sets, deep freezers, tractors, Tricycle vans, Tricycles, Mini-buses, motorcycles, sewing machines, Makeup kits, and Two Hundred Thousand Naira cash transfers to 2000 undergraduates, among others, to constituents, thanking them for their votes and support.
He also commended Governor Umo Eno for his peaceful disposition and promised to reciprocate the governor’s kind gesture by sending 1,500 bags of rice to the PDP.
