The Edo State Police Command has made a significant breakthrough in a case of self-kidnapping, arresting suspects involved in the crime and recovering a ransom of Five Million Naira (₦5,000,000).

According to the press release on Tuesday November 2025, on October 27, 2025, a man reported that his wife, Chioma Success Ezebie, and their 3-year-old son, Andrea Ojiezelabor, had been kidnapped, with the abductors demanding a ransom for their release.

However, investigations revealed that the victim’s cousin, Osita Godfrey, was complicit in the crime, and subsequent arrests led to the supposed victim, Chioma Success Adaniken, who conspired with her accomplices to stage her own abduction to extort money from her husband.

Two suspects, Osita Godfrey and Martins Chidozie, were arrested in connection with the crime, and all suspects have made confessional statements. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation and prosecution.

Edo State Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, commended the officers involved in the operation, warning residents to desist from acts that undermine public peace and emphasizing the Command’s commitment to combating crime using intelligence and technology-driven strategies.
