Gov Eno Launches 2025 Emblem, Rallies Support For Ex-Servicemen

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has launched the 2025 emblem appeal fund for the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
He called on residents of the state to support ex-servicemen, children, and widows of fallen heroes. The Governor performed the launch at the Governor’s Office Annex in Uyo on Thursday.
Represented by Gen. Koko Essien (rtd), the Commissioner for Internal Security, Eno praised the armed forces for their resilience, dedication, and sacrifices towards achieving the security and stability of the nation.
“The Armed Forces remembrance day is a time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our gallant servicemen and women, who through courage stood as a defensive wall of our national unity, as well as a moment to honor the veterans who continue to inspire the nation with their dedication and resilience.”
“The significance of launching an appeal fund is to show love and support for the gallant soldiers.
Eno assured of the State’s commitment to building a society where peace, security, and unity prevail.
The Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Dr. Ini Adiakpan, said launching the Emblem/Appeal Fund in the state marks the readiness to kick start other activities of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.
She stated that funds raised from the appeal will support the welfare of veterans and the families of our fallen heroes.
Also speaking, the State Chairman of the Nigerian Legion, Col. Joseph Daniel (rtd), called for a genuine collaboration of the stakeholders in combating “the criminal uprising in the Northern region of Nigeria.”
He commended Governor Eno for his efforts in rejigging military infrastructures in the states to ensure a safe and peaceful environment.
