Stop Blame Games, Face Your Corruption Allegations – Enang Tells Udom

Sen. Ita Enang has urged the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom, Mr Udom Emmanuel, to focus on the alleged corruption leveled against him instead of looking for who to blame.
Enang said this in a statement issued in Uyo and made available to newsmen on Thursday. The former Governor had come under fire over alleged financial mismanagement during his administration in the state.
Enang said every political officeholder should know that he or she will account for the period of stewardship either to his people or to God.
Enang, who is the former Special Assistant to the President on Nigeria Delta Affairs, wondered why the former Emmanuel would not want to give the Akwa Ibom people an account of his stewardship for eight years.
He said that the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, should not be linked to the petition on alleged corruption.
Enang further said that the Senate president’s office is an esteemed office, and you should not be linked to a personal issue on the alleged petition.
“The progressive Conscience and Team Nigeria, and all development conscious Akwa Ibom citizens. We reference the publications and discussions regarding the alleged petition against the immediate past Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel, to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to account for his tenure in office.
“The attempt to deflect from the subject, searching in diversionary tactics for persons allegedly behind such, attempting in course to link the Senate President’s person or office thereto, we volunteer a brief intervention.
“From all interactions, there is nothing to link the Senate President or His office and associates with the alleged petition. The concentration should be on preparation to answer to the veracity or otherwise of the issues stated in the purported petition.
“Admitting or denying the facts therein alleged and not seeking to divert attention by these fruitless attempts,” Enang said.
Enang urged all Akwa Ibom people to unite and support Akpabio as the son of the soil to work hard and serve the people of the state and Nigeria instead of unnecessary distractions.
He called on all Akwa Ibom people to settle their differences and support the Senate president, as the position may sometimes be difficult to obtain.
