EdoTraditional Ruler Kidnapped

The Edo state police command has launched a search operation on the abductors of the traditional ruler of Udo Eguare, his Royal Highness, Friday Ehizoje, the Onojie of Igueben, a local government area of Edo state.
This was made available in a statement signed by the state commissioner of police, CP Betty Otimeyin, which was made accessible to journalists in Benin through Moses Yamu, a Police Public Relations officer.
The statement read, “The command has received a report of the unfortunate kidnap of some persons, including the Onogie of Udo-Eguare, a 21-year-old man, late on Sunday night.
“He was riding as a passenger on a motorcycle along a lonely path leading to his community where they were ambushed by unknown persons. In the process, the Okada rider was shot dead before the Onogie was abducted.
“Upon receipt of this report, the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Betty Otimenyin, ordered the immediate deployment of the command’s tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force, to that area to ensure the rescue of the victims and arrest of the culprits.”
Moses Yamu, the liaison of the command, citing the CP, disclosed that the command received a report of kidnapped persons, including the young onogie of Udo Eguare.
He further mentioned that CP Betty Otimeyin had ordered immediate dispersion of the command’s strategic team, including the police mobile force, to conduct further investigation and ensure the rescue of the victims and the culprits.
Yamu also added that the area commander has been deployed to monitor the operation as directed by the police commissioner.
