29 Internet Fraudsters Face Court Trail In Benin City

Twenty-nine suspects nabbed for internet fraud have been convicted and sentenced to various jail terms in Benin City, Edo State, after pleading guilty to charges filed against them by the EFCC.
Following the credible intelligence of the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, Benin Zone, the suspects were apprehended and taken to the correctional facility.
The suspects were arraigned before Justices A.N. Erhabor and W. I. Aziegbemhin of Edo State High Courts, sitting in Benin City, respectively, on separate one-count charges bordering on obtaining by false pretense, advance fee fraud, retention of proceeds of crime, and possession of fraudulent documents.
All suspects confessed to being guilty of all fraudulent internet activities charged against them. Following, the defaulters were convicted and sentenced to two years imprisonment, each alongside a fine of N200,000 naira.
Being proceeds of crime to the Federal Government of Nigeria.
In addition, the court charged the convicts with forfeiting all items recovered from them to the federal government, including phones, computers, money, and cars, and they undertook in writing to be of good behaviour going forward.
