A/Ibom Police Smash Robbery Syndicate, Recover Arms, Stolen Items

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has busted a robbery syndicate and recovered a cache of arms and stolen items in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Uyo on Monday.
According to the statement, the operation occurred on March 20, 2025, and was prompted by a distress call from the Command’s Control Room.
It added that tactical teams swiftly deployed to the scene and trailed the suspects to a hotel, where Louis Joseph Thomas, aged 23, and Essien Friday Nelson, aged 27, were arrested.
The statement said items recovered include four locally made pistols, thirty-four live cartridges, one Moniepoint POS machine, and two black face masks.
Others are two laptops, three Android phones, one button phone, one wristwatch and one black long-sleeve Special Force polo.
The statement reads, “On 20th March 2025, at about 23:30hrs, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room, reporting an ongoing armed robbery along Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village. Acting swiftly, tactical teams were mobilised to the scene, where the hoodlums were trailed to a Hotel (name withheld).
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, fsi, commended the operatives for their swift response and assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover more weapons.
“The Command remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention.
