During the trial, the EFCC prosecutor, Ahmad Yerima, presented evidence showing that Odumusor had used fraudulent documents to facilitate a scam, leading to the acquisition of significant assets. He was said to have benefitted approximately 150 million Naira from his illicit activities, which he spent on a Mercedes Benz GL 53, an iPhone 16 Pro Max, and a laptop.
Justice Fadipe-Abike noted that Odumusor is a first-time offender and that the court had not been delayed by unnecessary procedures. She ordered the forfeiture of the fraudulent proceeds, including the Mercedes Benz, iPhone, and laptop, to the Federal Government of Nigeria. The defendant was given the option of paying a 500,000 Naira fine and performing 100 hours of community service in lieu of serving a prison sentence. Should he opt for the fine and community service?. the Nigeria Correctional Service would release him to the Ministry of Justice to oversee his community service and verify the fine payment.The defense counsel, Peter Taiwo, did not object to the prosecution’s evidence, leading to the conviction.
