Members of the National Assembly from Rivers State who support the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.

The National Assembly members, who are all members of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, stated that their decision to support President Tinubu is based on their strong belief in his Renewed Hope Agenda, as well as his economic and national policies.

Briefing journalists on behalf of the group in Port Harcourt, the Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District, Barry Mpigi, said they have carefully reviewed President Tinubu’s economic policies, which are targeted at repositioning the nation’s economy through his renewed hope agenda, and taking into account the alleged rot and decadence he inherited on the 29th of May, 2023, including a debt and inflationary figures occasioned by the printing of N22.7 trillion.

He added that they have come to the conclusion that the president’s economic plan is the surest way out of the country’s social and economic morass.

Furthermore, Mpigi stated that their assessment is firm that the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda is on track, with already visible results and a credible foundation that, if given the necessary time, will offer greater improvement in Nigerians’ economic well-being.

He added that they are certain the economy is doing well because of the significant decline in the foreign debt profile, the falling inflation figures, and a promising growth figure supported by the IMF.

Explaining further their reasons for supporting Tinubu, the lawmakers stated: “We want to remind Nigerians that in 2023, we worked assiduously under the leadership of Nyesom Ezenwo Wike for the election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. And we were victorious in that assignment. As members of the National Assembly from Rivers State, we declare unequivocally our unconditional resolve to work again for the reelection of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu come 2027”.

In order to re-elect President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR), the lawmakers pledged to start the mother of all public mobilizations to replicate in greater detail what they did in 2023.

Mpigi added: “We call on all Nigerians to support the consolidation of the Renewed Hope Agenda as the surest panacea for the prosperity and progress of Nigeria. And, in this connection, we appeal to would-be presidential candidates, especially those with desperate and never-ending presidential ambition to jettison such ambition and rally round our dear President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027”.
