The Rivers State Police Command have arrested and detained a table water truck driver simply identified as Nanso for reportedly crushing to death a female child of about six years old at Anozie/Illabouchi, Mile 2 Diobu, Port Harcourt on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
Eyewitness told our reporter that the truck was heading to Illabouchi out of Anozie when the accident occurred.
The Eyewitness stated that the truck driver was rounded up by a mob who wanted to lynch him when Police operatives from the Azikiwe Police Division rushed to the scene and rescued him from the mob.
We gathered that Police personnel impounded the truck and drove it to the Azikiwe Police Division while the driver was being detained at the station.
When our correspondent visited the station, he saw the table water truck parked there with deflated tyres.
Spokesperson for the Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, was yet to respond to an enquiry by our reporter on the incident.
