The Rivers State Government has urged communities in the state to report oil companies and other establishments not carrying out their Cooperate Social Responsibility,CSR to the Government for appropriate action.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Chieftaincy and Community Affairs, Patrick Ndukwe, made the disclosure on Saturday, May 10th, 2025, during a meeting between stakeholders in Andoni LGA and service chiefs on the directive of the Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (rtd) Ibok-Ete Ibas.
Mr Ndukwe advised communities in the Andoni and other LGAs not to take laws into their hands if the companies refuse to carry out their CSR but rather send a formal complaint to the Ministry.
The Pernanent Secretary disclosed that the Ministry will invite the companies and ensure what is due the people is not denied them.
Stakeholders in the meeting who are natives of the LGA lamented companies in the area’s refusal to employ youth and carry out their CSR. The stakeholders also sought the government’s help to ensure the companies did what was necessary.
