The Rivers Police Command has confirmed the death of four persons in a fatal motor accident that occurred on Monday,12th May, 2025, at about 11:42 pm along G.U. Ake Road.
Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe Koko, disclosed that one Mr Benson Peter Michael, 36 years old, and the driver of a Toyota Camry with registration number ABJ 10 EM, lost control of the vehicle and collided with six pedestrians.
“Tragically, four of the pedestrians were confirmed dead at the scene, while two others sustained injuries and were immediately rushed to BMH Hospital for medical attention.
“The driver of the vehicle is currently in custody, while the accidented vehicle has been recovered and taken to the station.
” The corpses of the deceased have been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) Mortuary.
“The case will be transferred to the State Traffic Department for further investigation” SP Koko said.
The Police Image Maker added that the Command deeply regrets the unfortunate incident and assures the public that justice will be served.
