Akwa Ibom Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has advised corps members in the state to respect the culture and tradition of the host communities they will be posted to.
Eno gave the advice during the Closing Ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream 1 Orientation Course on Tuesday at the NYSC orientation camp, Ikot Itie Udong, Nsit Atai LGA
The Governor represented by the Director of Administration, Ministry of Youth Development, Mr Anthony Isonguyo further encourages the corps members to imbibe the culture of humility, loyalty and discipline throughout their service year.
“I have received encouraging reports about your exemplary conduct and cooperation with camp officials.
“I commend you for this and encourage you to sustain this attitude of humility, loyalty and discipline throughout your service year and beyond.
“Let me assure you that Akwa Ibom State is a warm and welcoming place. I encourage you to integrate fully into your host communities, respect their customs and traditions and contribute positively to their development even after your service year.
“Your predecessors have left behind admirable legacies in various sectors across the state.
“It is now your turn to build on these achievements and surpass them. Our nation counts on your energy, creativity and patriotism.”
He cautioned the corps members against traveling at night, saying that most fatalities recorded by the scheme mostly occurred at night.
“Avoid night travel under any circumstances. If you find yourself traveling late, please seek shelter in a corps lodge, police station or military barracks once it is 6:00 p.m.”
