A/Ibom Man Arrested For Allegedly Hacking Wife To Death

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested 42-year-old Victor Okoh for allegedly hacking his 38-year-old wife, Victoria Okoh, to death at their residence in Oron Local Government Area.
A statement from the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Timfon John, on Monday in Uyo confirmed that the incident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning.
The statement said that operatives of the command found the mutilated body of the deceased outside the house she shared with her husband.
It noted that the preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity.
According to the statement, the suspect attempted to evade arrest by hiding in the house’s ceiling but was successfully apprehended by operatives who tactically secured the building and forced entry.
It reads in parts, “At about 05:20hrs, operatives of the Command swiftly responded to a distress call from concerned residents. On arrival at the scene, officers discovered the mutilated body of the deceased lying outside the house she shared with her husband.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had allegedly attacked his wife with a machete over accusations of infidelity.
Further reports indicated that the suspect was hiding in the house ceiling to evade arrest. The operatives tactically secured the building, forced entry, and successfully apprehended him.
The machete used in committing the crime was recovered by the police, and Photographs of the scene were taken for investigation purposes
The corpse has been deposited at the General Hospital Morgue for an autopsy, while the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.”
However, the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, condemned the act and assured the public that justice will take its full course.
He warned against all forms of domestic violence and called on residents to seek lawful means of resolving disputes rather than resorting to violence.
