The Akoko-Edo Local Government Council, under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Alabi Bliss Oshionogue, has thrown its weight behind the recruitment of indigenes into the Nigerian Army, following the call by Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo.
Speaking at the Ekehuan Barracks in Benin City, the Edo State capital, Rt. Hon. Oshionogue, represented by the Secretary to the Council, Hon. John Topa Okomayin, commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the positive impact of his Renewed Hope Agenda across the country.
He also praised Governor Okpebholo for his proactive approach to promoting economic integration and social cohesion in the state, describing the SHINE Agenda as a practical and all-encompassing model of governance.
The Council Chairman urged prospective recruits to conduct themselves with discipline and dedication when enlisted into the Army, and to serve as worthy ambassadors of Akoko-Edo and Edo State at large.
