The Abia North Senatorial District’s leaders and interested parties have categorically denounced any political alliance purportedly being formed against President Bola Tinubu in advance of the 2027 elections.
At a press conference hosted by the Abia North Peace Foundation in Umuahia, these leaders reaffirmed their unwavering support for Senator Orji Uzor Kalu and President Tinubu.
The statement was made at the same time that the Senate Committee on South-East Development Commission Chairman announced the start of construction on a 2-kilometer extension of the Umuzomgbo–Okpo Ihechiowa Road.
The Foundation’s president, Chief Nnanna Ukaegbu, and Prince Kalu Umeh claimed that any alliance against President Tinubu is futile and “dead on arrival.” They underlined that Abia North is still dedicated to backing the current government. We are not part of any scheme against President Tinubu,” Chief Ukaegbu stated. “Senator Kalu has consistently rallied support for Mr. President throughout Abia State and the South-East, making his leadership a significant asset to our community.”was stated.
Idima Abam Road, Ndi Orieke Road, Alayi-Okafia Road, Itumbauzo Road, and Okai Item Road are just a few of the completed road projects that the Foundation mentioned as demonstrating Senator Kalu’s significant contributions to infrastructure.
Prince Umeh highlighted the benefits of these projects, saying, “Senator Kalu’s efforts have resulted in the reconstruction of roads that were previously impassable, effectively connecting communities and enhancing local economies.”
The leaders also praised Kalu’s efforts in education and youth empowerment, mentioning projects that support women and youth throughout Abia North, newly built classroom blocks in rural areas, and scholarships for disadvantaged students.
Additionally, they acknowledged Kalu as a statesman and bridge-builder whose political savvy has contributed to party stability and commended him for promoting unity within the Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Senator Kalu is the best governor Abia has ever had,” affirmed Chief Ukaegbu. “His tenure established a foundation for the state’s progress, and his ongoing role in the Senate reflects his dedication to our people.”
Support from both elite stakeholders and grassroots citizens for Kalu’s role as a pillar of stability and efficient governance in the area is evident as he advances development in rural Abia North with the new Umuzomgbo–Okpo road project.
In a related development, Senator Kalu has started building a 2-kilometer extension of the Umuzomgbo–Okpo Ihechiowa Road, which will soon benefit the people of Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa in the Arochukwu Local Government Area. The 4.4-kilometer improvement to local transportation infrastructure comes after a 2.4-kilometer section in the same area was completed earlier.
A recent visit revealed that residents, many of whom consider Senator Kalu to be a transformative leader, were praising the ongoing construction. “Senator Kalu is a miracle worker,” stated community member Mr. Agwu Okoro. “What once seemed impossible has become a reality. This road will dramatically improve our lives.”
In agreement, local farmer Mrs. Mary Kalu said: “We appreciate Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s dedication to Umuzomgbo Ihechiowa. His contributions have ignited hope and development for our community.”
Youth leader Prince Okorie Awa emphasized the broader implications of the project, saying, “This road will lead to Okpo-Ihechiowa, giving us access to neighboring communities. It signifies economic growth, better market access, and a brighter future for our youth. We are sincerely grateful to Senator Kalu.”
The ongoing construction of the 2-kilometer extension is expected to further integrate the community into the wider Arochukwu LGA road network, enhancing mobility, trade, and overall quality of life for residents.
