Anglican Church Gets Two New Archbishops

The Church of Nigeria Anglican Communion now has two new archbishops. They are the Archbishops of Aba Province, Most Rev’d Dr Isaac Chijioke Nwaobia, and Most Rev’d Dr Alexander Ibezim, Archbishop of the Province of the Niger.
The two Archbishops who were earlier elected were formally presented alongside their wives by the Archbishop, Metropolitan and Primate of All Nigeria. Most Rev’d Dr Henry C. Ndukuba at the ongoing First Edition of the 2025 Church of Nigeria Standing Committee Meeting being hosted by the Diocese of Niger Delta at St. Cyprian’s Church, Port Harcourt.
Preaching a sermon at the presentation service, Most Rev’d Dr Cyril Odutemu, Archbishop of Bendel Province and Bishop of Ughelli Diocese, who christened his sermon as “Chosen to serve in the bond of peace,” charged the newly presented archbishops to see their new positions as a favour from God.
He said the church needs unity, warning that if it is divided because of the disposition of church leaders and the actions of some congregants, God will not be happy with them.
“My dear fathers, if we fail to dwell in peace and harmony with the flocks entrusted to us, God will hold us accountable,” Bishop Odutemu said.
Admonishing them further, Bishop Odutemu said they should not see themselves as the best but to remain humble.
“Do not make the work cumbersome for the Primate so that. Be submissive to him so that you will succeed,” Bishop Odutemu said.
To the congregation, His Lordship urged them to be instruments of peace and harmony in the church, warning against destructive tendencies.
