Apapa Customs Sets New Revenue Record with ₦18.9 Billion Daily Collection

The Apapa Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has set a new revenue collection milestone, recording its highest-ever daily intake of ₦18.9 billion on Friday, March 14, 2025. This surpasses the previous record of ₦18.2 billion set in October 2024.
Comptroller Babatunde Olomu, fsi, Ph.D, the Area Controller of the Command, attributed this achievement to officers’ dedication, improved compliance from port users, and enhanced operational harmony within Apapa Port. He acknowledged the strategic support of the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR, in fostering a stable and efficient port environment.
In line with directives from the CGC, Comptroller Olomu facilitated collaboration between the NCS and the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), resolving key bottlenecks in port operations, particularly issues with the Eto’o call-up system. This intervention eased traffic congestion and improved logistics for port users.
Additionally, the Customs chief swiftly mediated a brewing dispute between maritime workers, freight forwarders, and APM Terminals, preventing a potential service withdrawal that could have disrupted operations at Nigeria’s busiest port. His prompt actions ensured seamless trade activities and enhanced productivity.
Comptroller Olomu reiterated the economic significance of Apapa Port, which handles the highest volume of cargo in the country. He emphasised that continuous stakeholder engagement and operational efficiency remain key to sustaining revenue growth.
“Our proactive measures have strengthened confidence in the system and ensured smooth trade facilitation. We remain committed to surpassing this achievement while intensifying efforts to combat smuggling and revenue leakages,” he stated.
With this historic revenue feat, the Apapa Command has reinforced its position as Nigeria’s top revenue-generating Customs unit, setting the stage for further achievements in 2025.
