Catholic Priest, Two Others Kidnapped in Rivers

Unknown gunmen have kidnapped a Catholic Priest of the Port Harcourt Diocese, Reverend Father Livinus Maurice, alongside two other of his parishioners in Rivers State.
It was gathered that Fr. Maurice, who is the Parish Priest in charge of St Patrick’s Catholic, Isiokpo, in the Ikwerre local government area of the state and two others were kidnapped on Wednesday, February 12, 2024, while returning from a hospital visitation along Elele-Isiokpo road.
The incident was confirmed in a statement by the Catholic Diocese of Port Harcourt, which was signed on behalf of the bishop by the Chancellor, Reverend Father Bernadine Anaele.
The statement said that although the matter has been reported to the security agencies, it urged the Christ faithful of Port Harcourt Diocese and Nigeria at large to intensify prayers for the safe and unconditional release of the priest and those with him.
