Cuba Calls on International Community to Pressurize Israel to Stop the Attack on Iran

The Cuban government has expressed deep concern over the ongoing conflict between Israel and the Islamic Republic of Iran, warning of an imminent escalation that could have catastrophic consequences for global peace and security.

In a strongly worded statement, Cuba called for the urgent mobilization of the international community to halt what it described as Zionist military aggression, and cautioned against the threat of a direct attack by the United States. It also raised alarm over the potential for the conflict to escalate into a nuclear confrontation or result in radioactive leaks with devastating effects for humanity.

The statement, issued by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs, urged immediate global action: “We call upon the American people and the international community to demand the immediate end of the military aggression against Iran, which has entered its seventh day today. The involvement of the United States government—through financial, political, and military support to Israel, threatening statements, and the recent deployment of military assets in the region—is acting as a destabilizing factor and represents a dangerous escalation of the conflict.”

Cuba reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Islamic Republic of Iran and recalled the destructive consequences of past military interventions in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya, which it said had left behind trails of chaos, violence, and insecurity both in those countries and across the broader region.

The statement continued: “We make an urgent call to achieve peace through dialogue and negotiations without preconditions or pressure. Cuba supports the statement issued by the Non-Aligned Movement and urges the United Nations General Assembly and Security Council to fulfill their primary responsibility of maintaining international peace and security by ending this aggression, stopping the impunity of the Zionist regime, and working tirelessly to restore peace.”

Cuba condemned Israel’s attacks on Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities, labeling them a blatant violation of international law and a threat to civilian safety in breach of international humanitarian law.

The Cuban Embassy in Iran remains operational, observing necessary safety measures amid the crisis. Women and children, along with three Cuban nationals living in Tehran, have been evacuated from the embassy as a precaution.

Cuba concluded by reiterating that only a comprehensive, fair, and lasting resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict can bring lasting peace to the Middle East. It urged swift and decisive global action, warning, “We must act with the urgency and determination required by this moment. Tomorrow will be too late.”
