The Rivers State Administrator, Vice Admiral (Rtd.) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, has urged corps members to demonstrate the highest level of commitment in serving their host communities.
He made the call during the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch A Stream II orientation course for corps members deployed to Rivers State, held at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Nonwa-Gbam in Tai Local Government Area. A total of 2,302 corps members, comprising 931 males and 1,371 females, successfully completed the orientation exercise.
Represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the NYSC State Governing Board, Prof. Ibibia Lucky Worika, the administrator expressed satisfaction with the discipline and dedication shown by the corps members throughout the orientation course. He described their conduct and active participation in camp activities as commendable and heartwarming.
He reminded the corps members of their duty to serve the nation selflessly and to leave lasting legacies in their places of primary assignment and host communities. He warned against actions that could tarnish the good image of the NYSC scheme and encouraged them to integrate into their host communities while respecting local cultures and traditions.
In his farewell address, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. Moses Oleghe, urged the corps members to maximize the service year by exploring their passions, developing their skills, and gaining experiences that will shape their future. He emphasized that the core purpose of the service year is to positively impact the lives of people.
