EDHIC Optimizes Operations, Strategies Better Healthcare Delivery

The Edo State Health Insurance Commission (EDHIC), in its unwavering dedication to enhancing healthcare delivery in Edo State, has organized a two-day strategic workshop themed “Synergy: Harnessing Collaboration for Team Success.”

According to the Director General (DG) of EDHIC, Mrs Augusta Ikpea-Enaholo, the strategic workshop served as a medium to review the commission’s processes, operations and service efficiently in line with the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo’s administration towards commendable improvement of health care accessibility for residents of Edo state.

“Having recently assumed office, I found it necessary to bring my Management Team together for a comprehensive discussion on the Commission’s future. While we have made notable progress, there is still much work ahead. This workshop provides an opportunity to strengthen our operational framework and introduce new initiatives that will expand access to quality healthcare for Edo residents”. The Director General noted.

She further highlighted key operational expansion plans, including efforts to extend the Commission’s reach across the 18 local government areas (LGAs) in the State.

In an attempt to enhance and refine service accessibility, EDHIC has established regional offices in Ekpoma (Edo Central) and Auchi (Edo North). Operational heads have also been mandated to visit primary healthcare centres (PHCs) within their regions to sensitize communities on the benefits of health insurance. The utilization of Public awareness campaigns was also deliberated upon to drive home awareness, enrollment, and participation in the scheme.

During the workshop, departmental heads delivered presentations on their respective units, outlining their functions, challenges, and strategic initiatives.

Dr Omorogbe Owen Stephen, the Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, provided a detailed analysis of the Commission’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats while offering measures at which to bolster operational efficiency.

The EDHIC further assures the people of its dedication towards improving healthcare services in the state. Residents were also advised to take advantage of the health insurance scheme as part of the State Government’s efforts towards providing quality and affordable healthcare services.
