In a move to promote peace and safeguard the integrity of the upcoming polls, the Edo State Police Command has invited all candidates vying for the House of Representatives and Senatorial seats in the August 16, 2025, by-elections to sign a Peace Accord.

Party chairmen of the respective political platforms have also been invited to the event, scheduled for Thursday, August 14, 2025, at 12:00 noon at the Nigeria Police Edo State Command Headquarters in Benin City.

According to the Command, the Peace Accord seeks to foster mutual respect among contestants, discourage electoral violence, and uphold the principles of democracy before, during, and after the elections.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Monday Agbonika, fdc, urged all invited participants to attend promptly, reaffirming the Command’s commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring a level playing field for all political actors.

He further appealed to political parties, candidates, and their supporters to reject violence, hate speech, vote buying, and any actions capable of jeopardizing the credibility of the polls or the peace and stability of Edo State.
