Benin city, In a drive to enhance healthcare delivery, the Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (EDSPHCDA), commenced a vaccination campaign in the State on April 10th, 2025, which will run on until April 17th, 2025.
According to Mrs. Rachel Osamoje, the EDSPHCDA Assistant Health Educator for Owan East LGA, the exercise was officially flagged off by the Secretary to the Local Government (SLG), Hon. Mustapha Nurudeen, who represented the Local Government Chairman. While giving his speech, Hon. Mustapha acknowledged the mothers and all stakeholders present. He emphasized on the importance of immunization for children and explained the purpose of the Big Catch Up Vaccination campaign, which is to improve vaccination coverage.
He further added that it is a key opportunity to protect children from diseases that can be prevented by vaccines.
He encouraged all parents, caregivers, and community leaders to make sure no child is left out during the campaign. He also stressed the need to reach children in hard-to-access areas of the LGA.
Also present at the flag-off were the Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Mike Oikpor; Director of Administration and General Services (DAGS), Mr. Edukpe Ohiole; the Chief Imam; members of the Department of State Services (DSS), State Technical Facilitator (STF), World Health Organization (WHO), Head of Department of Information, the Director of Nursing Services (DNS), and the LGA Health Authority who all joined efforts to make the event a success.
