EFCC Tasks Students On Transparency And Accountability

The Executive Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, has charged students across the country to uphold the values of transparency, accountability and integrity and to avoid all forms of illegal activities, including economic and financial crimes.
He gave the charge in Abuja when Redeemer Private Secondary School students visited the EFCC’s corporate headquarters on a study tour.
Addressing the students, the EFCC’s boss, represented by the Head, Creative Communications Unit of the Public Affairs Department, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Chris Oluka, reiterated the necessity to maintain transparency, the need for openness, honesty, truth and accountability as it would avoid economic and financial crimes.
“Economic and financial crimes are economic problems that sabotage the economy and finance of the country, so be honest, transparent, truthful and be ready to give accounts of all you do,” he added.
Olukoyede also urged the students to be good ambassadors and representatives of the Commission in their various environments by possessing admirable character and fighting corruption and social vices.
Head, Enlightenment and Reorientation Unit, ACE 11 Aisha Muhammed EFCC, highlighted the mandate of the EFCC and the need for them to participate in the anti-corruption campaign.
She charged them with speaking up at the sight of any suspicion or economic and financial crime being committed around them by “saying something when they see something.”
EFCC inspector and cybercrime officer IE Eniola Kayode further advised the students against the ills of cybercrime, stressing the need to be security conscious while using the internet or engaging in extra-careful social media activities.
