Friday 18th, Monday 21st Declared Public Holidays for Easter

The Federal Government has thereby declared Friday, 18th and Monday, 21st April 2025 as public holidays as to mark 2025 Easter Celebration.

The Easter festival commences after the 40 days fasting (Lent), with a holy weekend starting with Good Friday, Sunday (the day of Resurrection of Christ) and Easter Monday, all displaying the virtues of sacrifice and resurrection.

The Minister of Interior, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo mass making the holidays declaration on Tuesday on behalf of the Federal Government, expressed heartfelt congratulations to Christians across the country on the joyous occasion.

He mentioned the importance of all holidays to Christians, which contains the virtues of the sacrifice and love displayed by Jesus Christ, having to die for the sins of mankind.

In a statement by the Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Dr Magdalene Ajani, the minister also beaconed on Nigerians to make use of this holiday period to pray for the peace, unity, and stability of the nation.
He promised citizens of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s great efforts to the Renewed Hope Agenda, which aids to provide national growth and development.

He encouraged Nigerians to share love and caring nature to their communities through acts of kindness and generosity, wishing all Christians a blissful Easter celebration, while sending in warm holiday greetings to all Nigerians.
