Gangsters Kill Man in Obio/Akpor LGA, Police Arrests Two Suspects

Suspected cultists on Friday, 28th February 2025, at Ogoloma street off Chinda in Mile 4, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, killed a man in his mid-20s, one Aleruchi Samuel aka Bigi, over a disputed piece of land.

We gathered that the suspected cultists came to forcefully take ‘Bigi, ‘ who was erecting a fence on a disputed land to their base on c after a complaint by a woman who is also laying claim to the land.

Our source disclosed that one of the suspected cultists stabbed ‘Bigi ‘ on the neck when he (Bigi) resisted attempts by the hoodlums to forcefully take him to their den.

The source stated that ‘Bigi’ was rushed to the hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

A resident of the community told our reporter that youth on sympathy to ‘Bigi’ went on rampage on when they heard news of his death and it took the intervention of the Police restore normalcy to the area.

The Spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, Grace Iringe Koko, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident.

She said “yes i can confirm the incident.It has to do with a disputed land where they are erecting fence.A woman went to call unknown persons who stabbed the man on his neck.

“Two persons have been arrested. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju has directed that the case be transferred to State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department,SCIID,PortHarcourt for discreet investigation”.
