Gov Okpebholo Express Joy Over Progress Of First Flyover In Benin City

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed satisfaction with the progress and pace of work at the construction site of the state’s first-ever flyover bridge at Ramat Park, Benin City.
Recognizing the importance of this landmark project initiated in November 2024, following a week after Governor Okpebholo assumed office, it is expected to be completed in 18 months.
During an unscheduled visit to the site, the contractor, Mr. Andy Duan of CCECC, briefed the governor, revealing that 20 percent of the project had already been completed. He also reaffirmed the company’s commitment to meeting the project’s specifications and deadlines.
For this work, which commenced in December 2024, we have completed seven pillars, underground crossbeams, and other structural works. We are committed to maintaining progress and ensuring timely completion,” Duan stated.
Governor Okpebholo also reiterated his administration’s commitment to enabling infrastructural development, emphasising that he is closely monitoring all projects across the state.
He warned that any contractor failing to meet agreed specifications would face contract revocation.
We are not sleeping; we travel around the state to inspect all ongoing projects, ensuring quality job delivery. I am impressed with the speed and quality of work at the Ramat Park flyover site. If the contractor maintains this pace, the project will be completed on time,” the governor affirmed.
He also disclosed that some contractors have failed to meet expectations, and actions will be taken against defaulters.
“We have inspected several sites, and some contractors are not delivering as expected. Any project not meeting specifications will be revoked.
“I have already identified a contractor who will be summoned on Monday. If their work does not improve, there may be bad news,” he warned.
Accompanying the governor, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, John Obanor, informed that the flyover project was progressing well.
Other road projects inspected by Governor Okpebholo include Uteh Temboga Road, the open drainage at Upper Ekenhua Road opposite the Nigerian Army Cantonment in Benin City, Upper Ekenhua Road, and Catholic Charismatic Renewal Road, Ugbiyoko.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering quality infrastructure and ensuring that every project meets the expectations of Edo residents.
