I Work With Wike, Abe Clarifies

Felix Barikui – Port Harcourt

A former senator representing Rivers Southeast Senatorial District at the National Assembly and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Rivers State, Magnus Ngei Abe has insisted that he is working with Barrister Nyesom Wike, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory ( FCT) and former Governor of Rivers State.

He stated this on his Facebook account on Friday, reacting to rumours about a strained relationship between him and Wike.

Recall that two trending videos on social media show Abe and Wike accusing each other of embezzlement.

But Senator Abe said: “My attention has been drawn to several viral videos and fake news circulating on the internet about me and the Honourable Minister of the FCT, my friend, my brother and our political leader in Rivers State, Barrister Nyesom Wike”.

The former Secretary to State Government (SSG), made it clear that “the purpose of this orchestrated social media campaign which appears to be the handiwork of mischief makers and paid political jobbers is to create the impression of some dissonance between the minister and I”.

“I know that the Honourable Minister is used to this antics on social media, and so am I.

“Taking old video comments and twisting them out of context and printing deliberate falsehoods in the orchestration of this evil plot while ingenious is dead on arrival.

“I have made a public declaration to stand with the minister because of his commitment to President Tinubu, and the visible contributions he has made and continues to make, in support of the President to advance the renewed hope agenda, and also because of his uncommon ability to bring Rivers state of different political hues together in a manner unprecedented in our recent political history.

“That commitment stands, and I use this opportunity to restate it; — I am with Wike.”

Senator Abe appealed to Nigerians and well-meaning individuals to continue to focus on their personal and corporate New Year’s goals and ignore propaganda that serves no purpose.

“Let me advice well meaning Nigerians to use this new year to focus on their personal and corporate goals, and pay attention to the opportunities available in the country to improve their lives and that of their families, and ignore propaganda that serves no purpose”, he maintained.

The ex-NASS member promised to continue focusing on the issues that add value, not the politics of calumny.
