A female passenger identified as Emmanson has spoken out about her ordeal on an Ibom Air flight, alleging that she was assaulted and humiliated by a cabin crew member, leaving her traumatised after videos of the incident circulated online.
In a statement shared via her Instagram page, Emmanson recounted that she had two mobile phones on board, one with a faulty power button. She claimed that a crew member insisted she manually switch off both devices.
“I showed her that one of the phones was bad… the button was bad and she said I could turn it off without the power button. The man sitting beside me helped me to switch off the other one,” she explained, adding that the crew member warned her before walking away, saying, ‘you will see’.
According to her, trouble began upon arrival in Lagos when she tried to disembark after using the restroom but was blocked by the same crew member. She alleged that when she attempted to record the encounter, the situation escalated.
“As soon as she noticed I was recording, she pushed me inside, dragged my wig, cut my gold chain, and made my phones fall and break,” Emmanson claimed. “The pain was unbearable… it was all these pains she caused me that made me poke her in the face, asking her why she did that to me.”
She further alleged that other individuals joined in the confrontation, including one identified as Juliana, who allegedly pulled at her top in a way that left her partially exposed. She said videos of the incident were recorded and later circulated online, with some images turned into internet stickers.
“The trauma is just too much,” she lamented. “I don’t know how I will go for work interviews. I’m into real estate — imagine trying to sell property while clients have seen my body online. People are mocking me, sending messages that my body is outside.”
She maintained that she never refused to switch off her phones and insisted she is not a nuisance nor a social media personality.
Ibom Air has yet to issue an official response to the allegations as of the time of filing this report.
