IKURU Town Receives Commissioned Facilities by HCDT.

Ikuru town in Andoni LGA of Rivers State has witnessed the flag-off of a water project and the commissioning of a renovated community school.
The projects undertaken by the Host Community Development Trust (HCDT) Ikuru, a joint venture between Green Energy International Limited and Lekoil Gas Investment Limited, are a 10,000-gallon Industrial well water project, two-bedroom ensuite with attached four rooms, kitchen and restrooms for the principal, and renovated classroom blocks with laboratories.
At the Ceremony, Professor Anthony Adegbulugbe expressed his gratitude for the partnership with Ikuru HCDT, stating that the project addressed the community’s critical needs. He added that the water project addresses a long-standing family Challenge.
“This contribution underscores our dedication to fostering sustainable development and ensuring local communities benefit directly from oil exploration activities. Our commitment to corporate social responsibility has led to numerous initiatives to improve infrastructure and human capital development. “
Prof Adegbulugbe also reeled out projects that have been carried out.
“Recent ongoing projects include the construction of link roads, completion of community town hall, scholarship programs for primary, secondary, and tertiary education, as well as borehole repairs and water reticulation systems.”
He mentioned that efforts are being made to broaden the strategy to ensure local communities benefit directly from oil exploration activities.
He further advised the people to eschew violence, insecurity, and disunity in the community and to embrace peaceful and harmonious interaction within it.
Prof Adegbulugbe reassured residents of Ikuru Town of their relentless commitment to fostering sustainable development that uplifts lives and empowers future generations.
The principal of the Community Secondary School, Athanasius Solomon, stated that he was pleased with the speed with which the project was completed and employed them to do more.
The event ended with the flag-off of the water project, which is in its first stage. According to Mr Chukwu, the MD of the project’s contracting Company, the facility building will be completed by January 2025.
