A prompt investigation into claims of extortion involving Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) officers has been mandated by Interior Minister Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
A group of young men traveling from Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, to Akure, Ondo State, were allegedly extorted ₦5.2 million by the officers, according to a widely shared post.
The Minister stated that any officer found guilty will be subject to the full force of the law in a statement issued by his spokesperson, Babatunde Alao.
“Any kind of misconduct from our security agencies will not be tolerated,” he declared.
In order to serve Nigeria and Nigerians with dignity and patriotism, we are constructing a paramilitary that is professional, disciplined, and dedicated.
“In this instance, we will make sure that justice is served and that security guards act honestly,” he stated.
