Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has ordered a comprehensive investigation into the alleged involvement of the State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, in the controversial bail granted to Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu, a suspected drug kingpin. The move comes in response to mounting public outrage following reports that the commissioner’s name appeared prominently in official documents related to the suspect’s release.
In a statement released yesterday, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, disclosed that the governor has constituted a special investigative committee to scrutinize the circumstances surrounding the incident. The committee is chaired by Barrister Aminu Hussain, the governor’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters, and includes distinguished members such as Barr. Hamza Haladu, Barr. Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, retired Major General Sani Muhammad, and Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata, with Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota serving as secretary.
The governor expressed deep concern over the allegations of misconduct, emphasizing his administration’s unwavering commitment to combating drug abuse and rooting out all forms of social vices within the state. He assured residents that the investigation will be thorough and transparent, with recommendations for appropriate actions to be implemented promptly.
As the inquiry unfolds, the people of Kano await further developments, hopeful that justice will be served and integrity upheld in the fight against crime and corruption.
