Youths Receive NEDC Briquette Machine
The North East Development Commission (NEDC) has taken a giant stride toward youth empowerment in the North East region by presenting Briquette Making Machines to youth trained in the art of Briquette Making.
The presentation ceremony, which was held at the NEDC headquarters in Maiduguri, was presided over by Mohammed Alkali, the Commission’s managing director.
Addressing the trainees, he reassured them of the commission’s commitment to equipping young people with practical skills and resources that enable self-sufficiency while driving economic development in the region.
The beneficiaries of the initiative recently underwent comprehensive training in briquette production, courtesy of NEDC. With the provision of these machines and the presentation of the machines, they are employed to turn their skills into sustainable livelihoods.
Briquette Making Machines are designed to convert waste biomass into high-quality briquettes, providing a cleaner and more efficient alternative to traditional fossil fuels. By promoting renewable energy sources, the initiative aligns with global efforts to reduce carbon emissions and combat environmental degradation.
Apart from environmental benefits, the project would build the people’s economy, as the availability of locally produced briquettes could create new markets, reduce reliance on expensive and polluting fuels, and encourage entrepreneurship among the trained youths.
The distribution of the machines marks an important milestone in the NEDC’s ongoing efforts to empower youth and foster sustainable energy solutions in the North East.
