The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Development and the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), has begun training selected Corps members to facilitate the National Identification Number (NIN) enrollment across all wards in the country.
According to a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications at NIMC, Dr. Kayode Adegoke, the initiative aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which aims to ensure the swift enrollment and issuance of NINs to all Nigerians and legal residents.
Adegoke revealed that over 120 million Nigerians and legal residents have already been enrolled in the NIN system. He noted that the new Ward Enrolment initiative is designed to reach underserved and previously inaccessible areas, leveraging the presence and mobility of Corps members.
He stated that the selected Corps members are currently undergoing intensive training in preparation for the rollout of the ward-level enrollment exercise. He urged Nigerians, particularly children under the age of 16, to take advantage of the opportunity to register for their NINs in their respective communities.
The Director-General of NIMC, Engr. Abisoye Coker-Odusote, commended President Tinubu for his unwavering support toward the commission’s mandate. She also expressed gratitude to the Minister of Youth Development, Mr. Ayodele Olawande, and the Director-General of NYSC, Brigadier-General Olakunle Oluseye Nafiu, for their collaboration in making the initiative possible.
