Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development Holds in August

The Ninth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 9) is scheduled for Wed. 20th – Fri. 22nd August 2025 in Yokohama, Japan.

Established by Japan in 1993, TICAD is a premier international summit dedicated to African development, serving as a vital platform bringing together African countries, Japan, co-organizers (the United Nations, UNDP, World Bank, African Union Commission – AUC), and a wide range of stakeholders.

According to a statement by the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, TICAD 9 will focus on co-creating solutions for challenges facing Africa and the international community.

The statement further said the conference aims to strengthen cooperation with Africa, recognizing its growing global presence, to enhance inclusive and responsible global governance.
