NSCDC to Establish World Class Counter Terrorism Communication Command and Centre
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has expressed readiness to set up a World-Class Counter terrorism Communication Command and Communication Centre ( CT-C4) to tackle insecurity across the country. The Centre would be cited at the NSCDC National Headquarters in Abuja.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, the Minister of Interior Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo commended the leadership ethos of the NSCDC Commandant General, Dr. Ahmed Audi, noting that the plan to establish the Counter Terrorism Centre is very apt and timely, based on the need to fight the dreaded terrorists, criminal elements, and other non-state actors across the globe.
While assuring the Corps of the Minister’s support, the Secretary of the Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire Service and Correctional Service Board, Ja’faru Ahmed, admonished the Corps’ management to put all hands on deck and ensure the timely completion of the centre.
In his remarks, the NSCDC boss, who was represented by DCG Ibrahim Ningi, stated that the establishment of the Centre is in tandem with the Corps’ strategic goals to leverage advanced technology to Secure lives, property, and the nation’s critical infrastructure. This underscores the commitment to supporting the federal government’s vision of a secured nation, Nigeria.
He said, “The establishment of the CT-C4 signifies a bold step in our collective resolve to combat terrorism and insecurity within our borders; at its completion, the Center will serve as a state-of-the-art hub for communication, coordination, and intelligence sharing, which would facilitate rapid response and precision in counter terrorism.”
The Commandant General further thanked the CEO of Equipping the Needy, Mr. Benedict Aliku, and other partners, Mr. Judd Saul, Mr. Mark Danner, and Mr. Steve Fisher, who pledged to support the Project and ensure its speedy completion, insisting that this was a pointer to the passion to enhance the nation’s security architecture.
