The Oba of Benin, His Royal Majesty Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, CFR, has called on Nigerian governors to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by promoting peace and unity across the country, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic differences.
Oba Ewuare II made the appeal on Saturday, June 28, 2025, while receiving a delegation of governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at his Palace in Benin City, Edo State.
The monarch commended President Tinubu’s leadership in navigating the country through challenging times, stating that despite criticisms, the President has remained focused on uniting the nation—an obligation shared by leaders globally.
He also praised Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, for according respect and recognition to traditional institutions, and urged other governors to support his administration in delivering good governance to the people.
Speaking on behalf of the visiting governors, Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum and Governor of Imo State, Senator Hope Uzodimma, expressed gratitude to the Oba for his continued prayers and guidance. He assured the Benin throne that Governor Okpebholo is committed to fulfilling his campaign promises, including reducing poverty and improving infrastructure across key sectors in Edo State.
The APC governors were accompanied by some senators elected on the party’s platform, along with two cabinet ministers from President Tinubu’s administration.
