Office of Edo State First Lady Partner South Africa Consulate General

The Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa has invited the Edo State Government’s office of the First Lady to collaborate on a corporate partnership. The partnership aims to foster stronger developmental ties and boost key economic sectors, with a sole focus on empowering women and youth in the state.
The Coordinator, Office of the First Lady, Mrs Edesili Okpebholo Anani, disclosed the information in her office at Government House in Benin City, where she applauded the Republic of South Africa representatives for their commendable efforts.
She expressed her excitement about partnering with the Consulate General, explaining the rising need to support vulnerable women who have been violated and empower them through various initiatives.
Speaking, she mentioned that, “We deal with vulnerable women. We would love to partner with you, as many women have been violated. Their rights have been severely impacted financially, mentally, and emotionally. We are here to empower them as much as we can”.
She stressed the undeniable need for mentorship and digital empowerment for women, stating that necessary initiatives are being implemented to groom women digitally to empower them in science and technology.
Furthermore, the First Lady mentioned that investments in the hospitality sector will lead to more empowerment of the youth, making them useful members of society.
The Consulate General of the Republic of South Africa, Prof. Bobby Moroe, expressed his dedication and readiness to collaborate with the Edo State Government while highlighting that the initiative will focus on areas of common interest and mutual benefit, including youth development programmes, agro-processing, agriculture, science and technology, arts, culture, tourism, and hospitality.
The Vice Consul, Ms. Busisiwe Dlamini, reinstated that their social responsibility is majorly focused on women’s empowerment. She listed several initiatives responsible for empowering women and extended an invitation to attend South Africa Week, an event that promotes social connections through engaging activities like golf, movies, and entertainment.
At the meeting, dignitaries present included the Chief Protocol, Office of the First Lady, Mrs. Mabel Oboh, the All Progressive Congress (APC), and the Oredo Local Government Women Leader, Mrs. Esther Kolade, among others.
The meeting ended with high commitment and optimism, with both parties looking forward to creating a mutual bond and building a fruitful partnership that would lead to positive changes in the lives of women and youths in Edo state.
