Comptroller Oluwadare Oshoba, the Customs Area Controller of the Apapa Port Command, has urged port users and stakeholders to prepare for a smoother trade process as the Nigerian Customs Service advances its modernization efforts with the installation of fixed scanners.
The deployment of these scanners at Apapa Port marks a significant milestone in the Customs Service’s modernization drive. Comptroller Oshoba assured that this development will lead to faster, more efficient trade operations.
In a statement signed by Tunde Ayagbalo, Public Relations Officer of the Apapa Area Command, Oshoba disclosed that after inspecting the installation site for three new scanners, the command is poised to exceed expectations. The scanners are expected to examine up to 200 containers per hour.
Describing the strategic placement of the scanners near the berthing area as an operational masterstroke, Oshoba emphasized that no consignment will evade high-tech, non-intrusive inspection, ensuring stringent enforcement and seamless trade at Apapa Port.
