PCRC,FIDA Rivers Branch Partner To Strengthen Community Safety

As part of efforts to strengthen community safety and enhance collaboration, the Chairperson of the International Federation of Female Lawyers(FIDA) in Rivers State, Emi George, on 10th February 2025, led the Executive Committee of the group in the state branch on a courtesy visit to the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, PCRC, Mr. Voke Emore.
The objective of the visit is to explore avenues for partnership between FIDA, the PCRC, and the community.
The discussions between the two groups focused on collaboration and support, community engagement, training, capacity building, paralegal training for retired Police Officers, and induction of FIDA members into the PCRC community.
In his speech, the Chairman of PCRC, Rivers State Command, Voke Emore, emphasised the importance of fostering a strong partnership between FIDA and PCRC to enhance police-community relations.
Mr Emore acknowledged the critical role of FIDA in providing legal support and advocacy for vulnerable groups.
The Rivers PCRC Chairman embraced the idea of collaborative training and capacity-building initiatives to improve community policing and justice administration.
Mr Emore further expressed optimism about the collaboration, noting that it would further promote peace and security in Rivers State.
Earlier in her speech, the FIDA Chairperson for the Rivers branch said the organisation is committed to organising a paralegal training program for retired police officers.
She said the training aims to equip the retired Police officers with legal and intelligence-gathering skills so that they can contribute effectively to community safety.
The high point of the visit was the presentation of an award of recognition to FIDA by the PCRC Chairman for its contributions to protecting the vulnerable population in Rivers State.
