Plateau, Benue Killings: CRA Issues Alarm Over 80 Communities Are Now Under ISWAP Control

By Emamuzo Iboma.

More than 80 communities have been taken over by Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) fighters, according to the Christian Rights Agenda (CRA), which has expressed grave concerns about the increase in terror attacks in Benue, Plateau, and other northern Nigerian regions.

Preliminary reports indicate that terrorists have already seized over 80 communities, he said, leaving a trail of death, destruction, and mass displacement in their wake.

In order to stop additional sabotage, the group emphasized the necessity of rigorous implementation and accountability, calling for the sanctioning of security personnel who do not fulfill their responsibilities.

The group also called on state governors to have the guts to confront the underlying causes of the violence without concealing themselves behind political rhetoric, denouncing them for “politicizing the killings.”

“It is no longer acceptable to downplay the gravity of the situation.“Communities are being wiped out. Children, women, and the elderly are being slaughtered.“Homes are burnt to ashes. It is genocide, and it must be called by its real name,” the CRA stated.
