POS Operators Sets to Pay Tax

The chairman of Obio Akpor, the local government area of Rivers State, Chijioke Ihunwo, has constituted an 11-man committee to streamline the activities of Point-of-Sale (POS) operators in the council area. The committee, led by Obinna Wopara as chairman and ThankGod Chigeru as secretary, is also expected to collect operational permits from the POS operators within the council area.

The committee’s establishment was announced in a statement made available to journalists by Mr Amadi Eze, Senior Special Assistant to the chairman on media and publicity.

Eze’s statement said, “The committee will regulate activities, enforce operational standards, and ensure the collection of operational permits from all POS outlets and stands in the area.”

While congratulating the appointees, Ihunwo, in the statement, urged them to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and integrity, emphasizing the need to enhance accountability and orderliness in POS operations for the benefit of the local government.
