Barely twenty-four hours after the swearing in of new council chairmen, the once peaceful and quiet state was thrown into chaos as unidentified gunmen invaded the premises of different local government council.
There have been reports of unrest and tension as sporadic gun shots can be heard at direct locations. Burning of council properties was witnessed in Abua- Odua, Ikwerre, Eleme and Obio-Akpor LGAs.
The incident, according to Eleme stakeholders, has sparked widespread concern, with many calling for calm and an investigation into the cause of the blaze.
Meanwhile, the former LGA Chairman of Emuoha has allegedly locked the council, creating tension in the area, as unidentified youths launched a shocking attack on the council premises an eyewitness claimed that some youths allegedly planted dynamites, which were detonated on the early hours of Monday morning just as the new council chairman arrived.
The council chairman stated that concerned individuals alerted authorities after witnessing the youths entering the premises.
He expressed disappointment with the community police, who he said failed to respond despite the notice received.
In Abua- Odua LGA, the PDP-Wike faction chanted and protested to their office, which shares boundaries with the Council Secretariat. However, the new LGA Chairman of Abua/Odual has moved in to swear his new councillors.
