Rivers APC Accuses Gov. Fubara, RSIEC of Impunity over LGA ELECTION, Calls FG Intervention.

The caretaker committee of the All Progressive Congress in Rivers State has accused the state Government and Rivers State Independent Electoral commission of an act of Impunity in the preparation of the Oct 5th local government election in the state.
The caretaker committee chairman of the All Progressive Congress Tony okocha disclose this in a press briefing at the party Secretariat in Port Harcourt .
Caretaker committee chairman of the All progressive Congress in Rivers State Tony okocha accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of governing Rivers State with a high level of impunity, warning that APC would not stand idly and allow such practices to continue unchecked.
He Specifically pointing to the governor’s determination to proceed with local government council elections despite a recent court ruling against it.
“Under what law is the election going to hold? Who appropriated the funds for the election to hold? There is illegality and impurities. Seeing the governors desperation to conduct an election where he is in charge. As a party, we say we will not accept the impunity.”
Publicity secretary of the caretaker committee Chibuike Ikenga alleged that the rivers state independent electoral commission and the rivers state government have a penchant to disobedience of court orders and judgement which he describe as a recipe for crisis in the state.
“There is need for the court, the judiciary itself to take positive steps to ensuring compliance to their rules and judgement, especially when RSIEC and the governor have deliberately sidelined the judgement. We implore the Federal Government to intervene.”
Secretary of the caretaker committee Eric nwibani describes the governor’s visits to office of the rivers state independent electoral commission as infringement to right of other parties taking Part in the election.
“Nigerians must know that the Rivers State independence electoral commission which is been controlled by the Rivers State executive is about to go outside court judgement, which is not right for democracy but rather for personal gain.”
Tony okocha called on all agencies involved in the local government elections to respect the law and urged well-meaning individuals to intervene and prevent the governor from turning Rivers State into a lawless state.
